Closer to Love
My day starts at 5:15-I head to the rehab center where I have had breakfast everyday with my mother since her stroke. As I come to the room, I take a minute to watch her while she is sleeping, I walk up usually saying a prayer over her and then I lay my hand on hers and say good morning mother. She opens her eyes, good morning miha.
It was only a few weeks ago I wasn't sure my mom would be alive, she had bleeding on her brain and a helicopter choppered her from our home town to a city hospital. Three weeks ago, I had walked in her room and she was on a ventilator and staples replaced her beautiful hair. My heart sank, it was then I knew I was being held together by my hope in Christ. He has sustained me every day, every moment. His word my comfort, her comfort. It's been the richness of the word of God that has transformed this difficult season into a season of gratefulness and thanksgiving. I learned within the first hour of seeing her I had no power to save her and she was in Gods loving hands. Since that moment the Lord has made me stronger than I have ever been in my faith. We have a long journey ahead, but God is -therefore a peace in him transcends this circumstance. I encourage her daily, my weariness is given to God and he refreshes me. I can see my mothers persevering spirit overcoming her stoke and we live to give God all the glory.
